I shall not be the tree that casts
a shadow on its sapling.
I’ll grow with you,
but in a different direction, so that
you shall have the space
to reach your own light.
I shall not barge in,
but shall wait patiently
for you to let me in,
to your little corner of the world,
that you are skilfully building,
